Montessori 2-Year Old Program

The Montessori 2-year old Program at Green Hedges primarily focuses on developing independence, fine-tuning gross and fine motor skills, enhancing social skills, practicing Grace and Courtesy, and developing positive interactions with others for our youngest learners. There is so much development that happens at this age and our Montessori program provides a nurturing and safe environment in which to do so.

Montessori Pre-K & Kindergarten 

One of the oldest and most respected Montessori programs in Northern Virginia, Green Hedges’ rich program benefits from the resources of our preparatory School: a full library, gymnasium, gardens, Visiting Author (and illustrator) Program, music and foreign language instruction. Affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS), our Montessori program builds on a child’s innate desire to figure out how things work and to achieve a sense of mastery as they learn.

Lower School

Grades 1 through 5 are exciting years as elementary school students grow into fluent readers, confident mathematicians and inquisitive scientists. At Green Hedges, we believe that young students should exercise every part of their brain and every educational muscle. That’s why we take every subject seriously, from the 3R’s and STEM fields to world languages and the fine and performing arts.

Middle School

Facilitating all-school assemblies, helping Preschoolers at carpool, and serving as mentors for younger students, our oldest students gain real leadership experience. In their classrooms, they work with faculty who love teaching middle schoolers. Small classes ensure that the individual interests and learning style of each student are understood and appreciated. Our rigorous curriculum is delivered with appropriate amounts of support and challenge and seamlessly incorporates organizational skills.
